The Strategic Sourcing Consultant position is responsible for the development and execution of sourcing strategies to leverage relationships across the enterprise to achieve the best total value. This position will play a lead role in supporting Verizon's Device Marketing and Promotions businesses by supporting and enabling the teams to achieve the strategic and financial objectives of the business and the Strategic Sourcing group.


  • Design, develop, implement, and oversee high-end analytical solutions with a focus on leveraging strategic sourcing best practice, and category specific strategies and trends

  • Assist in Identifying and evaluating potential suppliers, core competencies using industry cost models, RFX development and execution, proposal evaluation, total cost of ownership, and supplier selection recommendation (upon partner approval and completion of successful negotiation and contracting).

  • Perform analysis of financial and business data related to supplier proposals and capability assessments to support the development of Verizon supply base, including ownership and management of key suppliers and partners.

  • Assist category managers in developing, managing and leading the cross-functional teams (CFT), running strategic sourcing processes, contract negotiation, contract administration including utilizing sourcing systems, supervising supplier performance, analyzing financial data, business planning, administration, and analysis.

  • Support category managers with negotiations on contract terms with suppliers and assisting in executing contracts in liaison with the Legal and Contract Management Team.

  • Execute supplier relationship management activities for key assigned suppliers within the assigned categories, with oversight regarding supplier relationship management.

  • Create and maintain a data-driven taxonomy of managed expense that can be used to identify and monitor contract and OEM performance

  • Maintain category benefit tracker and methodologies, ensuring accuracy of inputs and monitoring of changes in expected benefits

  • Support mapping of E2E device lifecycle for the category, especially identifying, collating and analyzing relevant data, evaluating the total cost of ownership to both Verizon and the OEM, including customer acquisition and retention; identifying, quantifying and recommending margin improvement opportunities and programs.

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders throughout the category and enterprise, supporting and understanding their priorities and challenges

What we’re looking for...

You are a strategic problem solver who pays attention to detail and acts as a change agent. You will also be an excellent relationship builder with good interpersonal skills. You think both creatively and analytically. While creativity is essential, it’s also important to be capable of achieving results from that creativity.

You'll need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or four or relevant work experience.

  • Experience in Strategic Sourcing, or an analytical role supporting Sourcing or Supply Chain functions.

  • Experience of the legal language, terminologies related to contracting.

Even better if you have one or more of the following:

  • Master's degree.

  • Certifications in CPSM/CPM/CIPS/CSCP.

  • Certification in Lean Six Sigma.

  • Ability to define and develop work products and deliverables, contribute to structure of work products, and provide ideas for improvement.

  • Ability to support engagement in conducting interviews, coordinating business workshops to collaborate with partners through Design Thinking approaches.

  • Ability to work independently, as directly, with limited supervision.

  • Experience in Ariba, SAP, Google Suite & Microsoft Suite applications.

  • Ability to lead meetings/conference calls and give presentations to large audiences.
