About the Role
As Director Statistics and Modelling you will lead the Statistics and Modelling team and act as a key enabler for the CMC development of biologics products. You will work embedded in cross-functional project teams to ensure the right conclusions are drawn from available process development and product characterization data. Additionally you will explore new approaches establish structure function models for proteins and simulate process models for upstream and downstream development.

As Director Statistics and Modelling you will lead the Statistics and Modelling team and act as a key enabler for the CMC development of biologics products. You will work embedded in cross-functional project teams to ensure the right conclusions are drawn from available process development and product characterization data. Additionally you will explore new approaches establish structure function models for proteins and simulate process models for upstream and downstream development.
Key Responsibilities
- Select and apply appropriate statistical tools and support data interpretation to address questions during analytical method, cell line, process and product development and the confirmation of similarity of biosimilar products
- Communicate findings to project teams comprising scientists of diverse scientific backgrounds, act as subject matter expert in interactions with health authorities
- Provide state-of-the-art solutions to scientific, technological and operational challenges in your field of expertise and in close collaboration with your colleagues across functions and sites and lead their development and/ or implementation
- Apply data mining and modelling approaches to different aspects of biologics CMC development, contribute to the establishment of data management tools, in-silico models and statistical approaches in accordance to our data & digital strategy
- Author internal white papers to ensure high statistical standards and best practices and publish relevant data in scientific journals
- Develop, mentor and coach scientific or technical associates helping them grow their potential

Pay Transparency

For this position the minimum salary is €80,433.64/year (on a full-time basis). The actual salary will be significantly higher, as we strive to maintain a competitive position in the market and consider your previous experience, qualifications and individual competencies. We are open for part-time and job-sharing models and support flexible and remote working where possible.

- Advanced university degree in biostatistics, bioinformatics, data science, engineering or related area (PhD or equivalent)
- 10+ years of experience with 5+ years applying statistical methods to biologics CMC development and Quality by Design (QbD)
- Proven people leadership skills, ideally in a global setting
- Demonstrated experience in developing and evaluating modern data mining and modelling methodologies. Computing ability and experience with different data sources. Solid knowledge in Design of Experiment (DoE).
- Demonstrated contribution to external white-papers/policy shaping best practice in statistical science and experience in leading scientific improvement/ change initiatives
Desirable Requirements
- Experience with hybrid modelling
- Excellent understanding of regulatory expectations for CMC development
