Over the past 10 years, we have curated a diverse, skilled in-house team of marketers, designers, writers, developers, and video producers. Now, we're expanding our horizons and inviting an experienced Senior Developer to join our ever-growing international team.
As a Senior Developer at ProfileTree, you will craft robust online web solutions for a broad spectrum of client and internal brands. Your development will primarily be utilised in the WordPress landscape, where you'll wield the latest web standard technologies to design and implement custom themes and plugins. Further, you will have the opportunity to sharpen your skills on the Shopify platform, where you will harness the power of Liquid to create innovative themes.
Though we are headquartered in the UK and Ireland, we are a truly global company with a well-established team in Egypt. The position we're looking to fill will be part of this Egypt-based team. In light of our modern work approach, we no longer maintain a local office and instead fully support and encourage remote work. The role will operate on UK time, requiring a stable and excellent internet connection.

Role Responsibilities
Project Collaboration: Capable of effectively collaborating with Project Managers and UX Designers to understand project specifications and propose the best technical solutions to satisfy our clients' needs.
WordPress Development: Demonstrated experience in creating websites using WordPress as a Content Management System (CMS). You should be at ease with constructing new websites from the ground up and modifying existing sites.
Custom Theme and Plugin Development: Proficiency in creating bespoke WordPress themes and plugins in line with best practices. This includes an in-depth understanding of PHP, the cornerstone of WordPress, and the ability to write clean, efficient, and maintainable code.
Cross-Device and Cross-Browser Compatibility: Advanced knowledge of front-end web technologies including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and jQuery to ensure that all websites function seamlessly across various devices and browsers. Experience with responsive design and capability to thoroughly test solutions for cross-device and cross-browser compatibility is essential.
Website Maintenance and Upgradation: Competence in maintaining and upgrading existing websites as per the evolving needs of the client. This includes troubleshooting any technical issues, optimising website performance, and ensuring the website always utilises the latest WordPress and PHP versions.
UX/UI Implementation: Proficiency in transforming UX designs into functional and user-friendly websites. This includes a solid understanding of how to create an intuitive user experience and the ability to ensure the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs.
Version Control: Familiarity with version control tools like Git for tracking changes, facilitating collaboration, and ensuring the smooth progression of work, especially within a team environment.
Security Best Practices: Knowledge of WordPress security best practices to safeguard websites from potential threats. This includes understanding how to implement secure code and the use of security plugins and configurations.
SEO Best Practices: Understanding of SEO best practices and ability to implement them in WordPress sites would be beneficial. This includes SEO-friendly URL structures, usage of plugins for SEO, and site speed optimisation.
Performance Optimisation: Capability to optimise WordPress websites for performance. This includes implementing caching, minimising HTTP requests, optimising images and scripts, and utilising CDNs where necessary.
Job Requirements
Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a development role with a particular focus on WordPress development.
WordPress Skills: Strong WordPress development skills, including experience with WordPress plugin development and the ability to develop custom themes.
Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in using HTML, CSS (SASS), PHP, and JavaScript to develop effective and dynamic websites.
Version Control: Experience with version control tools such as Git to manage changes to projects, facilitating collaboration, and ensuring smooth workflow.
Shopify Development: While not a necessity, any experience with Shopify development will be considered advantageous.
Relationship Building: Demonstrable experience in developing effective working relationships both internally within the team and externally with clients.
Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with excellent command of English.
Responsibility: A willingness to take ownership for the quality of work and adherence to deadlines.
Attention to Detail: An acute eye for detail, along with the ability to be proactive and take the initiative when needed.
